Pristina, September 18, 2026

From September 14 to 18, a delegation representing relevant institutions of the Republic of Kosovo visited state institutions in Lithuania.

Over the course of four days, the team—comprising representatives from the Emergency Management Agency (Ministry of Internal Affairs), the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo, the Kosovo Police, and the Pristina Professional Fire and Rescue Unit—visited key public safety institutions in Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital.

The delegation received an exceptional welcome and engaged in a valuable exchange regarding achievements and training and education programs with the Fire and Rescue Department, the capital's police force, the National Crisis Management Centre (under the Lithuanian government), and the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Institute. These interactions provided an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with the hosts.

The visit was also accompanied by two experts engaged in the TAFF 2024 project—Ms. Solene Dengler and Mr. Gerald Fleming—who played an invaluable role in the activities.

It was a truly memorable visit marked by an outstanding reception from the Lithuanian hosts, who spared no effort in showcasing their achievements and transformation process—an experience that serves as a valuable lesson for all the participating institutions. We are sincerely grateful to all the institutions and colleagues for the warm welcome and unwavering readiness to support capacity building and development in the Republic of Kosovo.

The representatives express their sincere gratitude to the Lithuanian institutions for their warm hospitality and support, with special thanks to the European Commission, the World Bank, and the GFDRR for supporting this project, which directly contributes to capacity building and emergency management in Kosovo.
