The Ministry of Internal Affairs promoted databases for natural disasters

Ministry of Internal Affairs in cooperation with the Organization of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Office of United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and the Swiss Agency for Cooperation (SDC), today promoted in the Ministry of Internal Affairs database for Natural Disasters (DesInventar).
Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Skender Hyseni, on this occasion thanked all stakeholders who contributed to promoting this database which enables the collection, processing and dissemination of information for any damages that may be caused by natural disasters of all kinds in Kosovo.
Minister Hyseni emphasized that the presentation of results of data collected from natural disasters is cruicial moment for Kosovo, MIA and Emergency Management Agency.
“The management of emergencies from natural disasters is a priority, since in this manner we are installing a new correct, secure and functional system for the security and development of the country, in terms of securing lives of citizens of the Republic of Kosovo", stated Minister Hyseni.
At the end Minister Hyseni assured that the Ministry of Interior will support this wonderful job and will assume all responsibilities for development and capacity building in Emergency Management Agency.
While UNISDR representative for Europe, Mrs. Stefani Dannenmann-Di Palma, evaluated that this today’s commitment will not happen after many successful results and many commitments of many emergency management agencies.
"This initiative is not important to prevent only natural disasters at the national level, but to create synergies and to develop a coordinated regional approach to the reduction of natural disasters, which is in line with the European policy on this aspect. We hope on continuous support of the OSCE and we can further continue with the implementation of the national strategy, which is after the introductory framework for action", emphasized Palma.
Deputy Head of UNDP in Kosovo, Ms. Alessandra Roccasalvo, stressed that UNDP continues to support this initiative and should be this successful cooperation with the Emergency Management Agency, because without this cooperation it may not have adequate response and a good agency. Collaboration is essential in order to have a good management of emergencies, which would allow the avoidance of human losses. 
The development of the database is also supported by other partners such as Scientific Foundation CIMA and the OSCE.
